In our Learning & Discovery program at Skipwith Elementary School, Itty Bitty Yogis leads students to engage in yoga and mindfulness in developmentally appropriate ways. They relate the different poses to turtle shells, trees, airplanes and animals, as the instructor leads them through yoga flows with stories. A breathing activity leads students to pick an imaginary flower, name it, smell it (inhale) and blow the petals off (exhale). Through these activities, students learn self-awareness and self-regulation skills.

2024 IMPACT REPORT

We’re excited to share our 2024 Impact Report and the influence of your record-breaking investment in our work to support Henrico County Public Schools. We have indeed had a great year, and that success was made possible by our many generous donors, committed partners, and the leadership of Dr. Cashwell and her team. We are honored to work together with each of you as we prepare “life-ready” students for employment, enlistment, and/or enrollment upon graduation.

SCIENCE LAB FOR EARLY LEARNERS

With funding from LifeReady Solutions, formerly HEF Innovative Grants, Mehfoud Elementary School is converting their atrium into a hands-on science lab for early learners at the school.

Students recently used the space for an investigation about living and nonliving things by comparing real worms and gummy worms. Students learned that living things grow, have cells, need air, water and nutrients, and living things reproduce. Gummy worms? not so much!

This bright space will be utilized for so many engaging classroom and community activities.
