HEF Awards Scholarships to Henrico Students

HEF awarded 24 scholarships to graduating seniors across seven Henrico high schools, investing $65,500 in their future. These scholarships recognize students’ hard work, leadership, and potential, helping them take the next step toward continued education and opportunity.

Virginia Early Learning Partners

This year, VAELP expanded access to early childhood education by adding four preschool sites, bringing our network to 27 partnering centers. During the 2025–26 school year, VAELP provided tuition assistance to 285 preschool children, supporting their growth and preparing them for a successful transition to kindergarten.

VAELP remains committed to helping Henrico families access high-quality preschool programs, so every child has the support needed to be kindergarten-ready. We are proud to celebrate 136 four-year-old preschool graduates this year as they take the next step in their educational journey with a strong foundation for lifelong success.

Henrico Education Foundation Launches Henrico Alumni & Friends Website

Henrico Education Foundation on behalf of the Henrico County Public Schools is proud to announce the launch of the Henrico Alumni & Friends website, a new online platform designed to help alumni connect, collaborate, and support current students.

“We’re excited for the launch of this new website,” said Jennifer Boyle, Chief Executive Officer at Henrico Education Foundation. “Our goal is to provide a space to share experiences, exchange resources, and support one another while continuing the strong tradition of Henrico pride.”

The Write Stuff

The HEF Learning Labs team recently hosted a WriteReader Book Fair at The Oak Avenue Complex, turning a typical after-school event into something special.

This time, students were not just browsing books. They were the authors. Watch the WriteReader Video here.

Learning & Discovery

This year, HEF expanded its Learning and Discovery program to include Kaechele Elementary, bringing out-of-school-time opportunities to even more students across our 10 program locations. We served approximately 759 students in Henrico schools during the school year and over 200 are enrolled in summer programs.

21st Century Program

For many of HEF’s students, the experiences offered through HEF’s 21st Century program are firsts. Each experience opens doors, builds confidence, and allows students to discover new interests in ways they may not have otherwise encountered.

On March 20, while school was out, students:

created desserts at Victoria’s Kitchen
experienced the energy of Richmond Volleyball Club.
visited the Richmond Metro Zoo
