In the fall of school year 2022-23, eSports clubs were created at three middle schools (Brookland, Fairfield, and Tuckahoe) to increase student connection within their school community, improve attendance, wellbeing, and academic performance in math and science, while reducing negative behaviors. eSports and STEM go hand-in-hand as many eSports participants are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math.

eSports clubs held their first event called SMASH INTO SUMMER on May 24, 2023 at Tuckahoe Middle School where students participated in Super Smash Brothers gameplay competitions.

In the spring of 2023, four more middle schools (Elko, Rolfe, Wilder, and Achievable Dream Academy) gained eSports Clubs through a grant from Meta.

In the 2023-24 school year, all remaining middle schools have been offered funding for eSports Clubs through Henrico County Public Schools.
