The Libby Gregg Memorial Scholarship Fund

Elizabeth “Libby” Hoggard Gregg, 55, passed away surrounded by her family on February 14, 2024, after a long battle with triple-negative breast cancer. Throughout Libby’s illness, she fought through every surgery, treatment, radiation, and chemotherapy without complaining and with a smile on her face. She fought with beauty, grace, and fire. Libby did not let the disease define who she was or control her life. Her goal was to be the best mom and wife she could be, regardless of what she was going through.

Libby graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in Henrico County in 1987. During this time, she was captain of the DSF majorettes, a member of the Rebelettes, and numerous other organizations. She then continued her academic journey at Longwood College (University), where she earned her BS degree in 1991. During her time at Longwood, Libby was an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, making lasting friendships and memories that would stay with her throughout her life.

Libby was a schoolteacher for thirty years where she impacted hundreds of lives both at Rural Point (1992 - 2001) and Pinchbeck Elementary (2001 - 2022). This included students, parents, and teachers. She will forever be remembered for her infectious smile and caring for others. Libby’s heart is imprinted on several generations, through her loving kindness and compassion. She was named one of Henrico County’s Top Teachers in 2018 and Pinchbeck Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year in 2022.

Libby brought an abundance of love, happiness, and positivity into every space she entered. Her kindness, warmth, and radiant spirit touched everyone who knew her. Universally cherished, Libby was the kind of person no one could speak ill of—her beauty, both inside and out, left a lasting impression. Above all, she was an extraordinary wife, mother, and friend whose love knew no bounds.

Through this memorial fund, Libby’s daughters hope to honor their mother’s legacy by inspiring and empowering individuals who share her passion for teaching. Just as Libby dedicated her life to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning, this scholarship aims to support those who are committed to following a similar path. By helping like-minded individuals pursue their educational goals, this fund encourages the next generation of compassionate, dedicated educators who will make a difference in the lives of students, just as Libby did.

Donations to the Libby Gregg Memorial Fund will support an annual scholarship to a graduating Henrico County senior who is planning to attend a 4-year college pursuing a career in elementary education. Additionally, the fund will support the Pinchbeck Elementary School Library each year by helping purchase new books and enriching its collection for students.

We are deeply grateful for your generous support in honoring Libby’s life and ensuring that her light continues to shine brightly. To further celebrate her legacy, Libby’s daughters, Madison and Ashley, will host an annual walk each October. This event will raise funds for the scholarship and help keep Libby’s spirit and impact alive for generations to come.

Live Like Libby!

We celebrated the first annual Live Like Libby Walk in honor of Libby Gregg on October 18, 2025.

Surrounded by loved ones, we walked, remembered, and raised funds in her name. Libby’s warmth, joy, and love for teaching touched countless lives. To continue her impact, the Libby Gregg Memorial Fund will award a scholarship to a Henrico County senior pursuing elementary education and support the Pinchbeck Elementary Library each year.

Let’s keep Libby’s light shining by empowering future educators who share her passion.
