Rethinking Paper & Pencil in the Virtual Classroom
Henrico Virtual Academy
Writing out work and then sharing it is a challenge for math students in a virtual environment. This innovative grant allows math teacher Joe Broscious to provide each of his students with a Rocketbook device. The hope is that these innovative notebooks will enable students to streamline the process of completing the day-to-day routines in an online math classroom. With the Rocketbooks students will be able to submit authentic, meaningful work digitally, and store notes and examples electronically for quick and easy access later on.

"It’s always important to try and meet students where they are, particularly those in an online setting. Going through this grant process helped me determine a concrete way in which I might be able to best serve their needs, and I’m excited to see how these Rocketbooks impact their learning. I was encouraged at every step and would certainly be interested in applying for a grant again in the future.”
