This Pilot project was designed to bridge the gap between below level readers and peers reading on or above grade level. The innovative grant from HEF provides our school with the money to train every teacher in the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory integrated approach to teaching reading and spelling. We will also have the funds to purchase the materials needed to implement this approach with fidelity. Our desire is to meet every student where they are in their literacy journey, and create a love of reading and writing. We are excited to see our students’ growth in literacy and expand their desire to pick up books and read them!

Funding Amount: $12,355

"Through this grant writing experience, I learned that HEF supports you every step of the way! From the beginning of the grant writing to the final submission, HEF was available to answer any questions I had. The grant writing process opened my eyes to the opportunities we have at our school to build a firm literacy foundation for our students. "
