The Program Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of Operations and oversee the administration and operations of the Learning & Discovery Program, ensuring a positive, safe, enriching environment, in accordance the Henrico Education Foundation policies, procedures, and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration and operation of the Learning & Discovery Program, to include implementing policy and procedures, planning, promoting, implementing, hiring and training staff, risk management, evaluation, and budgeting
  • Oversee the administration and operation of licensed full day summer camp, to include planning, promoting, hiring and training staff, risk management, and budgeting
  • Ensure the adherence to all government and Henrico Education Foundation regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards for enrichment programs, summer camps, and afterschool programs
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Henrico County Public Schools, including prompt and professional communication, appropriate use of facilities, timely and accurate completion and submission of reports, and positive collaboration
  • Manage the Learning & Discovery Program budget ensuring that the department operates in a fiscally sound manner and achieves financial goals
  • Serve in direct delivery of program as needed
  • Support Henrico Education Foundation initiatives to help meet organization goals
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, vendors, volunteers, staff, and community
  • Interpret, communicate, and promote the Henrico Education Foundation mission, goals, and objectives to employees, volunteer’s leaders, members, and community
  • Partner/collaborate with organizations whose mission is aligned with the Henrico Education Foundation to meet the needs of community children and families
  • Actively participate as a positive member of the HEF team, meeting or exceeding team standards, including but not limited to the following:
    • Contribute willingly to every “all hands” projects.
    • Attend and contribute to all staff meetings and other foundation events.
    • Respectfully accommodate colleagues’ requests
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Meet Virginia qualifications to serve as a Child Day Center Director
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Within first 90 days of employment, successfully complete training in Adult and Child 1st Aid/CPR/AED, Daily Health Observation, Medication Administration, Phase II Pre-licensure
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a relevant field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills related to the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion as required
  • Possess excellent organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Must be able to recognize confidential information and maintain confidentiality
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills including decision making and problem solving abilities

Work Environment/Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Must have the ability to courteously respond to inquiries and complaints
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to lift/move up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to stand/walk/sit/crouch/kneel/reach/lift/pull
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Ability to create, interpret and communicate written instructions, policies and guidelines
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations

  • The Foundation works year-round and does not follow Henrico County Public Schools summer hours – there is some flexibility on schedule
