March 15 - April 23, 2021

Del Harris Basketball AcademyStarting March 8, 2021 Wilder Middle School will be the first school in the state of Virginia to host this NBA Sports Analytics session. Anwar McQueen, Coach Del Harris, and Dr. Michael Edwards will lead students in a 5 week, 4 day a week Virtual Sports Analytics Course.

The program is designed for young people who have an interest in sports to expand their knowledge of the game while exposing them to opportunities that many minorities or disadvantaged youth may not experience. This course specifically utilizes STEM data analytics to learn what an NBA or College video coordinator does in sports. Virtual Sports Analytics delivers online instruction from an expert in the industry while providing a fun breakdown of the game. This is done using next level NBA software programming allowing the instructor to lead a hands-on session giving students the information and training required to pursue the field.

The target audience is young people who have an interest in sports and would like to explore the field of sports operations. Sessions will help students explore other avenues in sports besides playing on the field such as administrative, coaching, sport information, sports broadcasting, graphic design, game officials, sports marketing, game-day operations, requirements to become an athletic director and more.

To complete the experience, Coach Harris and Edwards will lead participants in “On-the-Court” sessions in understanding the fundamentals of basketball/coaching skills while offering sports performance exercises and additional physical fitness learning opportunities.

All materials are provided, and students who participate in this great experience will also be able to stay for the entire Extended Day Program.
